Minor Surgery

At 9:45 this morning, Ethan was happily singing and dancing to the hot dog song from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. I was getting the Disney memory game ready to play after the song when smack...went Ethan's forehead on the coffee table. I wasn't too freaked out b/c he didn't hit that hard and wasn't crying instantly. I ran to look at his forehead and he had a deep 2 inch gash in the center of his forehead. PANICKED MOTHER!! I quickly got ice and a towel, threw on my shoes and quickly tried to get a hold of Jon. I felt so bad that he had to sit alone in the back of the car and hold his own ice, but he did a great job. On my way to the ER, I thought maybe his doctor can do the stitches. I called and they do them there thank goodness. I finally got a hold of Jon and he met us at the doctor's office. His cut was deep but they said that it was a perfectly straight cut, so they could use glue instead to heal the gash. He is now on antibiotic and Tylenol for the pain. He is already running and playing and acting like Ethan. The whole incident from start to finish (back home again) was 1 1/2 hours. Thank goodness that Ethan was so calm and so good. He kept telling me that he was okay. I was more worked up than he was. What a morning!

He has to wear a band aid for 10 days. Just in time for his birthday party. He is smiling and saying cheese. It is not a grimace :)

Wicked!

On Wednesday, I took my wonderful mother to see Wicked at the Pantages. We both had a wonderful time. She seemed to really enjoy the musical and we had great seats! It was a wonderful time to spend with the best mother in the world. Love you mom!

Sirimal and Krista's Wedding!

Last Saturday, we were invited to attend Krista And Sirimal's wedding at UCI. It was a beautiful ceremony and wedding and they are two of the most wonderful people. It was Ethan's very first wedding and he had a wonderful time and did not want to leave. Congratulations Sirimal and Krista!

Chef School!

Last week Ethan participated in a tiny-tots chef school just for one week or 5 lessons. The class was for 2 to 5 year olds. Most of the kids were 4 or 5. Ethan was on the younger end of the spectrum and at times you could tell. He enjoyed the cooking and mixing aspects of the classes. He loved the idea that we were going to get messy and get to play with all the ingredients. He however did not like all parts to the class. The first thing that he refused to do each and every day was wear his name-tag. On Monday, Jon wore the tag, and the rest of the week I wore the tag saying Ethan. The next thing that I was surprised that he did not participate in was singing of all the songs that they were taught. He would listen, but would not sing. Now, Ethan loves to sing everywhere he goes, so this was a complete surprise to see how shy he becomes in a new environment.

The first day he went with Jon. They made fruit kabobs!

The second day I took him, and they made butter and cornbread!

The third day Jon & I were both able to take him, and they made teddy bear mix, caterpillars on a log and a teddy bear sandwich.

The fourth day, I took him, and they made pizza dough and then pizza!
The last day they decorated 6 cupcakes, but most of you know that Ethan hates cake. He really did not want to participate in this lesson, so no pictures.
Overall, it was a lot fun! He liked to go and cook like Rata or Remy from Ratatouille. He also loved to tell Jon went we were eating the pizza and cornbread that he made it. It was a great experience!

4th of July in Vegas at the Red Rock Country Club!

Ethan's very first 4th of July was spent at my parents' home in Vegas. He loved it, and Jon and I loved it there too! We wanted to make it one of our family traditions; however, last year I had to start my next school year on the 5th of July, so Ethan's second 4th of July was not spent in Vegas liked we had hoped. Fast forward to 2008...thank goodness I now have the month of July off and can finally have our family tradition to spend the 4th of July in Vegas.

Our 4th of July weekend was wonderful! It was both relaxing and eventful all at the same time. We were able to take Ethan, Taylor, and Brennan (forgot to mention that Stacey, Taylor, and Brennan joined us at my parents' home) to Circus Circus to go on some of the smaller roller coasters and rides, but the highlight of the trip was of course the 4th of July extravaganza at the Country Club. Ethan, Taylor, and myself were chauffeured there by golf cart courtesy of my Dad. Ethan just loved Poppa's cart! The place had yummy food for adults and kids, cotton candy, ice cream, a jumper, pinata, and many many fun games for the kids to play before the fireworks. Ethan participated in the tug-of-war game. His team the blue fireworks lost, and Ethan was very upset. I was very surprised that he understood the concept of losing and he even cried about it. He also watched his best buddy Taylor and cousin Seryna race in potato sacks. Ethan did not want to participate in that one. Ethan and all the kids hit the pinata, and Ethan loved loved loved the obstacle course. After dinner and all the games and excitement, which also included playing with sand toys in the sand trap, it was time for the big event the FIREWORKS!! Ethan just loved all it! It was amazing to see the fireworks so up close. It was an awesome sight! We had such a blast in Vegas with my parents. I am so glad we can finally do this every single year. It truly is the best place to be on the 4th of July. Thanks Mom and Dad!
